555 I.C Pulse Width Modulation

The 555 timer is an integrated circuit (I.C) mainly comprised of a Voltage divider, made of three 5k Ohm resistors, and two major logic circuits, the comparator and flip flop, made from many transistors. When the 555 I.C is hardwired into its A-stable mode, it is able to generate a square wave.

Generating Square waves, using digital signals, is known as Pulse Width Modulation (P.W.M). These modulated digital signals are the basis for controlling various motors used in today’s engineering projects.
